During Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Cancer Care Centers of South Texas is presenting a free nutrition seminar on “Healthy Recipes for Men.” It is open to the public free of charge. Barbra Swanson, N.D., R.D., L.D., and registered dietitian for Cancer Care Centers of South Texas,will address how eating a low fat diet and using soy products as a meat alternative, along with tomatoes and other veggies with lycopene, can help lower the risk of prostate and other cancers. She will prepare and share the recipe for healthy sloppy joes made with soy, tomatoes and veggies. The recipe is low in overall fat, but high in protein. It also will help men add more veggies to their diets, which helps reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
